Khin One (1947-2000)
Khin One passed away on 3 February 2000. The coming 3 February will be the 9th anniversary of his demise. That is why he has been selected as the Artist of the Month.
Khin One made major breakthroughs for Myanmar art world.
In 1971 (at the age of 24) Khin One wrote ‘Seit Ta Za Pa Gyi’ (the Abstract Art) which encourages Myanmar art world to have deep sensation in enjoying paintings.
In 1970s he made strong modern art movement by presenting two art exhibitions titled ‘Myet Hnar Seinn’ (Stranger) and ‘Hmyar Ba Yin’ (King of Archery) at the Lawkanat Galleries in Yangon. (Paintings of Hyperrealism)
In 1977 he released his album: ‘Hnin Si Phyu Ye Away Ka Lu Tayauk’ (White Rose’s Man from a Far Place) with his own band _ Rainbow Bridge. In this album lyrics are more artistic than own songs which follows the style introduced by Sai Kham Lek in 1973-74 to enjoy country style of western countries with Myanmar sensations.
In 1997 (Age-50) Khin One’s new paintings drawn by spraying were displayed under the title: Metallurgy.
In 1998-99 he painted a series of large-sized paintings: ‘Manaw Taing’ (Manaw Poles), Innthar (Natives of Inlay Lake) and ‘Don-yeing’ (Group dance of Kayin nationals) among a few others, all of which are on display at top floor of FMI Centre, Yangon.
